According to a report by Leadership News, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF) contributed N200 million toward the acquisition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. This financial commitment was announced during a high-level assembly of youth leaders and stakeholders in Abuja, where the group also formally declared their support for the President to serve a second term.
The NNYLF detailed its position in a communique signed by national leader Murtala Garba-Gamji and operations director Dr John Agbana, explaining that the endorsement stems from a desire to ensure the continuity of current policies and the stabilisation of national reforms.
Beyond political backing, the organisation encouraged young Nigerians to engage in proactive nation-building and urged international partners to coordinate with legitimate youth organisations to expand impactful initiatives throughout the northern region.
Held in the Maitama district of Abuja, the meeting served as a platform for professionals and grassroots organisers to evaluate the progress of the Renewed Hope Agenda while launching the Renewed Hope Ambassadors programme.
The assembly reached a consensus that a second term for President Tinubu is vital for long-term national growth and stability. Furthermore, the group pledged to lead a peaceful, merit-based mobilisation effort across the North to promote national unity and civic responsibility.
During the symbolic presentation of a N200 million dummy cheque to the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Garba-Gamji emphasised that the donation reflects a genuine commitment from northern youth to the President’s political future.
He noted that the funds are currently held by the forum’s trustees and will be used specifically for the nomination forms once the party begins the sales process. He highlighted the importance of honouring the political understanding that power should remain in the South for eight years, matching the tenure of the previous administration.
Garba-Gamji expressed confidence in the administration’s achievements regarding infrastructure, agriculture, and security, citing specific projects spanning from Sokoto to Badagry and across states like Bauchi, Taraba, and Kano. He asserted that the supporters gathered were genuine representatives of their communities who believe the President will secure a decisive victory in the North.
Responding to the gesture, the Director General of the TSG, Dr Umar Tanko-Yakasai, welcomed the collaboration of support groups aligning with the President’s vision.
He reiterated that since the South supported a northern presidency for eight years, it is only fair that the North reciprocate that loyalty to allow the current administration to complete its full two-term cycle.
Yakasai underscored that the North is a region that prides itself on keeping its promises, recalling how President Tinubu’s support was instrumental in the 2015 victory of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said, “Northern Nigeria was happy because in 2019, I didn’t see any credible person who challenged President Muhammadu Buhari from the south.”
He concluded by stating that the North should prioritise the completion of the South’s eight-year tenure before entertaining other regional interests. See More
