Political Risk Analyst, Dr. Hamza Haruna has raised fresh allegations over political manoeuvres and controversial engagements involving key figures during the administration of former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle.

He made the claims during an interview 19:16 on Arise News, where he discussed what he described as troubling intersections between politics, traditional institutions, and insecurity in the state.

According to Dr. Haruna, Senator Kabiru Marafa approached the former governor with a request concerning the restructuring of the Tsafe Emirate Council. He said Matawalle agreed to consider the proposal, believing that it could influence broader political cooperation and possibly help address the worsening security crisis.

Quoting the exchange, Dr. Haruna said, “When Matawalle was a state governor, he went to him, plead with him that the Tsafe Emirate Council should be divided and given some to his brother which Mr Matawalle says okay, if that is done, maybe that means there will be alot of changes in some of his administration.”

Dr. Haruna further alleged that Senator Marafa later facilitated the involvement of a figure he described as highly controversial. He stated that Marafa “went and brought one of the most notorious kidnappers that is on the wanted list internationally which is Ado Aliero to tell his brother to give him a title as the Sarkin Fulani.” He stressed that this act deepened concerns among residents about the intersection of political actors and individuals linked to violent activities.

The analyst argued that these developments symbolised a broader pattern of political interference in traditional structures, often with the expectation that such alliances could help restore order. However, he said these efforts failed to curb insecurity and instead raised more questions about governance and accountability. View, More,
