The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party has accused rival factions of attempting to illegally seize control of the party’s structures while misrepresenting Supreme Court judgments on the leadership crisis.

Speaking on TVC’s from 21:41 Beyond the Headlines, party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi rejected claims by the Lamidi Apapa faction that the Supreme Court had settled the leadership question in their favor.

“We see they are on a conquest mission to capture the soul of Labor Party. Supreme Court did not pronounce such,” Arabambi declared, directly contradicting assertions made earlier in the same interview by Tanko Yunusa of the rival faction.

Arabambi explained that the judiciary has consistently maintained that leadership disputes within political parties are non-justiciable matters. “Another question, why can’t they go for review if they believe the Supreme Court made such pronouncement? The issue of leadership cannot be adjudicated by the court. That is what Supreme Court says,” he stated.

He cited multiple legal precedents supporting this position, including cases from Rivers State involving the APC where leadership disputes led to the nullification of election results. “Senator Magnus Abe versus APC, you remember APC won all the election and that was how Wike became governor. They removed all of them. It was because of issue of leadership,” Arabambi explained.

The party official emphasized that courts have ruled such matters are internal party affairs beyond judicial intervention. He referenced cases from Ondo State and other jurisdictions where similar principles were applied.

“It very clear that issue of leadership is not justiciable, so when we have people who want to strangulate our party who are on a conquest to capture the soul of Labor Party and turn it into an Igbo agenda we will reject it” he said.
