Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after former president Olusegun Obasanjo was captured saying that Nigeria has the right to call on the United States for help. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that his comments might earn him enemies.
Many were left stunned after former president Olusegun Obasanjo while addressing a mammoth crowd at an event, disclosed that it was necessary to call on the international community for help if the government failed to protect it’s citizens.
His comments, which came as a result of the increase in bandit activities across the country sparked massive debate. It can be recalled that the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi made similar comments that infuriated the presidency.
Bayo Onanuga, the senior special adviser on Information and Strategy in a strong worded post on his official X handle, had condemned the former Anambra governor’s call for foreign intervention, and also made it known that his comments will not be forgotten or forgiven.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, disclosed that former president Olusegun Obasanjo might find himself in the same category with Peter Obi.
