According to Vanguard News, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has reacted to Tuesday’s heated exchange between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a naval officer in Abuja. He described the officer’s behaviour as “horrible” and a clear embodiment of “evil”.
In a post shared on his social media handle, Igbokwe stood firmly by Wike’s actions during the confrontation at the contested Gaduwa land site, asserting that the incident revealed deeper issues of corruption and a growing sense of entitlement surrounding land ownership in the FCT.
The APC chieftain condemned the officer’s conduct, saying it reflected a broader moral decay within certain institutions.
He wrote, “What this small boy displayed today has a million meanings. What frightens me is the reactions here. I have been reading what some people are saying here, and I get more frightened. Who sent the small boy on this horrible mission? Of what meat is he fed?
“I am running away with the thinking that those lands were stolen. Take him out of the military ASAP. He represents evil. He was not well brought up.
“His so-called bravery is arrant nonsense, full of sound and fury signifying. Take him out. He represents evil. We call this principle of reverse psychology.”
Igbokwe went further to accuse certain influential individuals of resisting Wike’s reforms in the FCT, particularly those who, according to him, had profited from illegal land acquisitions.
He continued, “I bet you some people who stole Nigeria to the bones in Abuja will not like HE Wike. Shameless land grabbers who see Abuja as their father’s property will not like him. Appointment bandits and free money chasers will not like him.”
He said, “I am aware that no Southerner has been FCT minister since 1990, when the capital was moved to Abuja.”
He added that for over three decades, the position had been occupied by Northerners, and Wike’s appointment in 2023 marked a major break from that tradition—one that, according to him, unsettled many.
In his concluding remarks, Igbokwe demanded a full-scale investigation into the ownership of the disputed land and queried the motives behind the naval officer’s confrontation with the minister.
He questioned, “Who owns the land in question? Why didn’t the owner personally face HE Wike? Was the acquisition done through legitimate means? This issue must be properly investigated. Let the owner come forward.”
The altercation between Wike and the naval officer at Gaduwa District has sparked widespread reactions across the nation, with political figures, security experts, and citizens weighing in, PUNCH Online reports.
Wike, in his response to the controversy, maintained that he would not yield to intimidation or blackmail. View, More,
