Chief Executive Officer of O’NIX Group and National Chairman of the Igbo Stakeholders Forum, Prince Nixon Okwara has advised Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, to reconsider his political ambition ahead of 2027.

Okwara made the remark during an interview from 9:46 on Voice of the People TV, where he assessed the state of opposition politics and the challenges confronting the Labour Party.

Speaking on the programme, Okwara stated that if he were in Obi’s position, he would step back from the 2027 presidential contest. “If I were Obi, if I was to be in his shoes, I will drop contesting 2027 election,” he declared, stressing that the former Anambra State governor should rethink his strategy given the current political realities.

Okwara argued that Nigeria’s political landscape has evolved significantly since the 2023 elections and warned that repeating the same approach may not yield a different outcome. According to him, building a formidable national alliance, strengthening party structures, and developing a broader coalition would be more beneficial for the political movement Obi represents than another presidential bid under current conditions.

He noted that key opposition figures must evaluate their strengths realistically and avoid decisions driven by emotion or pressure from supporters. Okwara emphasised that political repositioning, rather than personal ambition, should be the priority for the Labour Party if it hopes to remain relevant in national politics.

The Igbo Stakeholders Forum chairman further explained that the opposition must focus on unity and strategic engagement, especially as the 2027 political calendar intensifies. He said Obi remains an influential political figure whose role may be more impactful outside a direct presidential contest. View, More,
