In a recent interview on Channels Television from 26:49, Honourable Leke Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, made a striking declaration about his political allegiance and future in the House of Representatives. Speaking amid ongoing controversies within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Abejide emphasized his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu.
He stated, “If Asiwaju does not become president in 2027, even if I win my election, I will resign from the House,” highlighting the depth of his commitment to the APC presidential candidate despite being an ADC member.
Honourable Abejide explained that his position reflects his belief in strong political alliances and the importance of loyalty to leaders he trusts. He argued that his personal convictions and long-standing relationships in Nigerian politics sometimes transcend formal party lines, a stance that has drawn criticism from party colleagues.
The lawmaker further defended his actions as being in the best interest of his constituents, insisting that his grassroots support and consistent electoral victories demonstrate that voters prioritize performance and integrity over strict party loyalty. He also stressed that internal party disputes should not overshadow broader political objectives or compromise democratic processes.
Abejide concluded that his decision to align politically with President Tinubu is a matter of principle, asserting that he will continue to act according to his convictions and only remain in office if the political conditions he supports are met. View, More,
