According to Daily Post on Friday, reports indicate that Abia State’s political landscape is gradually taking shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a strategic meeting in Umuahia involving former governors Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji. The meeting was aimed at building a united front against the current governor, Alex Otti.

Addressing those present, Kalu explained that the gathering consisted of political leaders who governed or held public office in the state between 2009 and 2023. He added that there were plans to broaden the group to accommodate all former office holders from that era.

He noted that the alliance, referred to as “The Team,” made significant contributions to Abia State’s development and dismissed suggestions that past administrations were ineffective. According to him, governance is a progressive process that builds on previous efforts.

“Leadership works like a relay race,” Kalu said. “I handed over to Senator T.A. Orji, who in turn handed over to Okezie Ikpeazu. No one can honestly claim that we achieved nothing. If nothing was done, where would Abia people be today?”

Kalu further stated that the group is focused on effecting a change in leadership in Abia State in 2027, emphasizing that the movement is inclusive, non-partisan, and open to collaboration with individuals across different political parties. See More
