Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed gratitude to the people of Ahoada West and Ahoada East Local Government Areas following the completion of a major road project initially started by his predecessor.

Speaking in a video from 4:28 posted on Symfoni TV during what appeared to be a commissioning ceremony, Governor Fubara acknowledged the origins of the infrastructure project and explained his administration’s decision to expand its scope.

“To the glory of God, my predecessor initiated this project on November 8th, 2022,” Fubara stated, adding that the project had significant political impact during the previous election cycle. “As a matter of fact, because of this project, Edison that year gave his all in that election, and victory wasn’t a questionable thing in Ahoada West, Ahoada East.”

The governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects. “So when we came on board, it is natural that we see to the conclusion of this project,” he said.

Fubara revealed that his government had extended the original design. “To show our support, we extended the project from the initial design, added another 4-something kilometers that made it what we have today, a 14.2 kilometers. That is the little way we can say thank you for the support of your son,” he explained.

The governor also referenced a symbolic gesture by the community, which presented him with cattle in appreciation. “You have also demonstrated it today that every kilometer you’re giving us a cow—14 cows. I think with what I have today now, I should be the only governor that has so many cows that my ranch is the richest one in Nigeria,” Fubara remarked.

He characterized the gesture as a demonstration of goodwill. “But the truth about it is what have you people demonstrated today? You have demonstrated love. And what do I owe you in return? It is to support you,” the governor concluded. View, More,
