Residents of Kurmin Wali village in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have given accounts of a violent incident in which armed men reportedly invaded the community and took away several residents.
Sources who spoke with Daily Trust, including individuals who escaped during the attack and relatives of those allegedly taken, stated that gunmen entered the village, cordoned off parts of it, and led their captives into nearby forest areas. The accounts suggest that the operation was carried out in an organised manner and left the community in fear.
Several villagers reportedly said the recurring threat of such attacks has forced many residents to abandon sleeping in their homes at night, citing concerns for their safety.
These claims have emerged despite official statements from the Kaduna State Government and the State Police Command dismissing reports of abductions in the area. In contrast, community members, alongside the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), have maintained that numerous individuals were taken during the incident and remain in captivity.
Observers also reported seeing a combined team of security personnel, including soldiers and police officers, moving toward the community following the reports, suggesting heightened security attention in the area.
One resident, Jonathan Na Allah, told *Daily Trust* that his wife and five children were among those taken. He said the incident occurred in the early hours of the day, coinciding with church activities. According to him, members of the local vigilante group had issued warnings shortly before the armed men entered the village.
“As people tried to run, we realised that the bandits had already surrounded the village. Anyone who tried to escape was threatened with a gun,” he said.
He also said, “I managed to escape by hiding inside a house, but my wife and five children were not as lucky as they were picked and taken to the forest.” See More
