Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy National Publicity Secretary Diran Odeyemi has alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has fundamentally changed since assuming office, with power transforming his character.
Speaking during an interview from 15:44 with News Central TV, Odeyemi accused the governor of abandoning political allies who helped him achieve power. “Governor Seyi Makinde is now a changed person. Power has changed him completely. And I’m saying this with all emphasis. He has become excessively arrogant, and he is taking governance as if he’s doing a private business. Come to Oyo State, there is no politician in Oyo State today, not only in Oyo State, even in Nigeria, that assisted the governor to become who he is today that he still relates with,” he said.
The former PDP official criticized Makinde’s treatment of political supporters, including those who facilitated key relationships.
Odeyemi questioned the governor’s gratitude toward individuals who introduced him to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other political figures, claiming Makinde operates independently from all politicians in Oyo State.
He stated the governor has “retired all these politicians without benefit” according to Makinde’s own statements. Odeyemi expressed his worries about Makinde’s political future after leaving office in approximately 17 months, noting that opposition figures are counting down the days.
