Peter Ameh, former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and political analyst has alleged that Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, is concerned about the growing influence of Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
Ameh made the remarks during an appearance on Mic On, the podcast hosted by journalist Seun Akinbaloye.
In the interview from 0:35, Ameh drew attention to Onanuga’s social media activity, suggesting it reflects the presidential aide’s apprehension over Obi’s rising popularity. “Go and count how many times Bayo Onanuga has posted Peter Obi on his Twitter page. He’s worried,” Ameh stated.
Ameh argued that Onanuga’s repeated mentions of Obi signal deeper concerns within the Federal Government about the former presidential candidate’s appeal, particularly among youths and urban voters. According to Ameh, such attention indicates that Obi’s influence is being closely monitored by key government officials as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
The former IPAC Chairman emphasized that media narratives, especially from political aides, often reveal underlying anxieties within government circles. He said the focus on Obi by Onanuga and others highlights the level of impact the Labour Party candidate continues to have in shaping public discourse.
Ameh also urged Nigerians to observe patterns in political communication, noting that repeated references to opposition figures are sometimes motivated by concern rather than neutral reporting. View, More,
