Nigerian political figure and founder of the Zenith Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, has spoken out on the impeachment efforts against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, questioning the legitimacy of the lawmakers behind the move.

In a video from 4:00 shared by SYMFONI TV, Nwanyanwu argued that the lawmakers pushing for Fubara’s removal are no longer legally recognized members of the Rivers State House of Assembly due to their defection from the party under which they were elected.

He stated that their continued presence in the Assembly is only possible because of a political truce, not legal authority. Nwanyanwu also noted that the matter of their defection is still pending in court, which further complicates their standing.

Nwanyanwu said, “As far as I’m concerned, they are sitting there base on a peace agreement. Legally, they are no longer members of the state house of assembly. But you cannot cry more than the bereaved.” See More
