Nadav Pollak, an Israeli intelligence veteran and Middle East lecturer at Reichman University, has weighed in on rising speculation about an imminent U.S. military operation against Iran, stressing both the complexity of such an action and the strategic importance of U.S.–Israel cooperation.

Pollak, who previously served as a research fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), shared his assessment in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.

Drawing on his background in intelligence and regional security, he said the United States is “about to launch a very complicated operation” that would test multiple dimensions of modern warfare.

According to Pollak, any U.S. action against Iran would have to contend with the country’s vast and layered air defense systems as well as its ballistic missile threat, making the operation far more challenging than conventional strikes.

He added that the mission could potentially involve ground operations, which would require exceptionally accurate tactical intelligence on Iran’s security and intelligence services.

Pollak emphasized that the United States is not acting alone in its preparations. He said Washington is receiving top-notch intelligence from Israel, alongside valuable operational lessons drawn from Israel’s most recent war and past operations related to Iran.

These insights, he suggested, significantly strengthen U.S. planning and execution capabilities.

However, Pollak cautioned that such close cooperation carries serious risks for Israel. He warned that Israeli assets are likely to be under significant threat if the operation moves forward, given Iran’s capacity to retaliate directly or through allied proxy groups across the region. See_More…
