The news regarding the release of over one hundred and thirty school children abducted from a secondary school in Papiri, Niger State generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
The release, which came as a relief to many, came amid intensified efforts to curb the activities of bandits, terrorists and kidnappers across the country. However, questions were raised regarding the actual number of children that were freed.

According to his statements, he pointed out that the data made available to the public was not adding up as earlier reports stated that the total number of students captured stood at three hundred and fifteen.
Chidi Odinkalu, in his analysis, pointed out that out of the 315 abducted, 50 reportedly escaped while 100 were previously released. The 130 recently released brought the total number of released children to 280. Hence, 35 school children remained unaccounted for. View, More,
