Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after a high court in Kenya issued an order restraining the government from sharing data with the United States. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the Nigerian government was ready to share data with France.

The news regarding the court order issued by a high court in Kenya against its government generated mixed reactions from different quarters after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.

The order, which came after an agreement to share data between the Kenya government and the United States of America was reached sparked massive public attention, with many viewing the development through different lenses.

However, Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, decried the move by the Nigerian government to share information with France.

According to his statements, the outspoken legal practitioner pointed out that a Kenyan court restrained it’s government from sharing data after an agreement was reached, while Nigeria was ever ready to share tax information of Nigerians with France.

“In Nairobi, the High Court of Kenya has issued an order restraining the government of Kenya from sharing any data under the Data Sharing Agreement reached last week with the USA. In Abuja, Nigeria government is getting ready to ship off tax data of Nigerians to France.” Chidi Odinkalu wrote.
