Iranian academic and political analyst Sayed Mohammed Marandi has issued a strongly worded statement accusing Israel of growing international isolation and warning of severe consequences should it carry out any attack on Iran.
Marandi made the remarks in a post on his verified social media account, amid heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing war in Gaza and broader confrontations involving Israel and Iran-aligned actors.
In his statement, Marandi claimed that Israel is increasingly unpopular globally, arguing that public opinion has turned sharply against the country despite what he described as a powerful international propaganda apparatus and internal state repression.
He asserted that resentment toward Israel is particularly rising in Western countries, where public protests and political debates have intensified since the start of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
Marandi described the situation in Gaza in extreme terms, alleging that Israeli military operations have fundamentally altered global perceptions of the state. He suggested that images and reports emerging from the conflict have undermined long-standing diplomatic and media narratives that previously shielded Israel from widespread criticism, especially in Europe and North America.
Beyond criticism of Israel’s current policies, Marandi issued a direct warning regarding Iran. He said that any Israeli military strike against Iran would result in grave consequences for Israel itself. While he did not outline specific scenarios, the remark appeared to reflect Tehran’s longstanding position that it possesses significant deterrent capabilities and would respond forcefully to any direct attack.
