According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, December 30, 2025, the prominent human rights activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, has publicly declared her intention to officially register as a card-carrying member of the African Democratic Congress. This significant political shift comes as a direct response to the recent actions of Peter Obi, who officially transitioned from the Labour Party to the ADC during a gathering in Enugu.

Yesufu’s decision marks a departure from her long-standing history of non-partisan advocacy, as she chooses to align herself formally with this new political direction in a show of total solidarity with Obi.

During her address, Yesufu issued a passionate call to action for all well-meaning Nigerians, urging them to set aside their differences and unite under a common goal to rescue the federation during the 2027 general elections. She emphasised that the time for mere observation has passed and that the future of the nation depends on collective political participation.

Reflecting on her personal journey, she noted that while she has remained independent of party affiliations throughout her career, the current state of Nigeria has necessitated this formal step into the political arena.

The activist expressed a sense of urgency, stating that the Nigerian people have endured enough hardship and that the period for constant mourning and the shedding of tears over the country’s plight must come to an end. She insisted that there is no more time to waste on sorrow, as the focus must now shift toward a proactive fight for the soul of the nation.

She articulated a vision of a transformed country where meritocracy triumphs over nepotism, asserting that her involvement is a commitment to building a greater and more equitable society for all citizens.

She said, “ADC will take Nigeria to a point where the son of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody.”

This statement serves as the foundation of her belief that the ADC provides the necessary platform to dismantle the barriers of God fatherism and create a land of equal opportunity for every Nigerian.
