A political analyst, Barrister Darlington Agomuo, has criticised the Nigerian government for allegedly turning down genuine offers of international support while failing to decisively confront terrorist groups destabilising several regions of the country.

Agomuo made the remarks during an interview on Voice of the People TV from  34:28, where he expressed concern over what he described as inconsistencies in government’s approach to national security.

Speaking passionately on the programme, Agomuo questioned why authorities would decline foreign assistance aimed at combating insecurity but appear to engage in political arrangements that embolden terrorist actors. According to him, the government’s posture raises critical questions about its sincerity in ending violence across the country.

“A foreign government that have good intention wants to help you, you said no, but you are here sharing power with terrorists and you didn’t see anything wrong with that,” he stated, insisting that the current security architecture is failing because leaders have not shown the political will to confront criminal networks head-on.

Agomuo argued that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity requires broad collaboration, including intelligence support, technology transfer, and operational partnerships with willing allies. He warned that dismissing offers of assistance while maintaining strategies that have produced limited results only deepens public frustration.

The analyst further noted that communities affected by insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping are losing confidence in the government’s ability to protect them. He called for a transparent review of the nation’s counter-terrorism strategy, urging policymakers to prioritise the safety of citizens over political considerations. View, More,
