The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of alleged kidnap kingpin Odinaka Ekwebelem and two accomplices, Ejike Sunday and Chinedu Duri, who reportedly terrorized communities in Orlu West Local Government Area of Imo State.

Imo State Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye revealed that Ekwebelem had been on the state’s wanted list for months before his capture.

Speaking during an interview with TVC from 0:40, Okoye detailed the suspect’s criminal history. “Odinaka Ekwebelem is a notorious criminal suspect who has long been on the command’s wanted list. We have arrested Odinaka in the past in a case of armed robbery, upon which we charged him to court. So he was arraigned in court with the appropriate criminal charge, and then he was remanded at the correctional service custodial centre where he was facing his trial. Somehow, he managed to get back into society, and he continued in his criminal acts, formed a new syndicate, and continued terrorizing the people of Awarra-Mmamma, Obile, and Ohoba axis,” he said.

Okoye explained that Ekwebelem’s arrest followed an abduction at Faith Glorious Assembly Church, where the gang kidnapped a worshipper and demanded ransom.

Security officers received intelligence about the incident and tracked down the suspects. Police apprehended Ekwebelem along with two syndicate members and recovered arms and ammunition during the operation. Other gang members remain at large, and authorities continue their investigation into the criminal network. View, More,
