Former governorship candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has taken to his official X account on Saturday, November 29, 2025 to react to the statement that was made by the former governor of Ondo state, Late Rotimi Akeredolu about open grazing.

In the video that surfaced, the former governor of Ondo state argued that open grazing is one of the reasons for insecurity.

He said;

“Those of us who have put out anti open grazing laws have our reasons for doing it and we have no apology whatsoever. Grazing route can not work. Can anybody wake up one morning and take cows to Aso Rock to feed? It doesn’t work that way, we have passed that level. Because we don’t want to ban the culture, so people should be killing themselves? Mr. President said anybody caught with AK 47 should be arrested, how many have been arrested?”.

Reacting, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour said the former governor of Ondo state fought for the Yoruba people when he was alive. He said the legacy of Rotimi Akeredolu must be honoured.

According to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour on his official X account;

“I’m not sure that those of us in the South West actually realize that without the leadership and courage of this man, we would have been in a complete mess.

“While Aketi fought for his people at every given turn, there was the so called leader of the Yoruba people playing politics”. View, More,
