According to a report by the Punch News on Friday, November 14, 2025, a police source where an engineer, Solomon Ode, was accused and beaten to death, revealed that after Solomon was accused of stealing, he kept pleading that he wasn’t among the thieves, but the security men didn’t listen to him. They beat him until he died.
Reports indicate security guards chased suspected thieves attempting to steal iron rods from the Eko Atlantic construction site. Ode was seen in the area, accused of being one of the thieves, and beaten to death despite pleas of innocence. His body was left by the riverbank.
The body was later found floating by the riverbank and recovered. Police arrested some guards after angry youths confronted them. Ode’s death joins the list of Nigerians who’ve lost their lives to mob justice and vigilante actions in the country.
The police source said, “He kept pleading that he wasn’t among them, but they refused to listen. They beat him until he died and left his body by the riverbank.” View, More,
